Instagram’s story feature connects followers with influencers

A lot of people you know use social media as a haven, a place to dump their thoughts about life(*cough* Twitter *cough*). But in the last few years, we have been using this unusual ‘Technique’ called stories. Now, I am an Instagram and Whatsapp Stories addict, but I want to give my position on them and why it is a great form of marketing businesses should embrace.

Why are they so powerful in modern media? and what is the mindset going forward in Social Media Story Marketing? but let’s first know where it came from!

The Origin Of Stories

Back in October 2013, Snapchat launched the stories feature with became the ‘thing’ to younger people, mostly teens, who themselves have short attention spans.

But Instagram took the trend to the next level. They introduced the stories feature to a broader audience, and it’s become so important to our humanity’s consumption of media, that in 2021, the platforms LinkedIn and Twitter now have a story feature. Why so?

The Power Of Social Media Story Marketing

For the basic understanding of Stories, It’s the equivalent to have a shorter IG post but will disappear in 24hrs. for every story made. But the true power of it is what I call Short Connection Marketing. The purest form of this term is giving good and amazingly stimulating items on their media for an already existing audience member who would like to be informed of the day-to-day of companies or media influencers. And get this, the stories are interesting in that Instagram will have it as a story, they have the opinion to post it as an IGTV post.

But the mere fact that they can still see the comments rolling and the interactiveness forsee it goes by and the psychological implications around it, make the user keener to see the next post made by their favorite brand or influencer. Why do you think all the platforms have the stories section as the first thing you see when entering the app? The point is, don’t waste the potential of effective story usage, because I can say for sure that by understanding the basics of the potential and effectiveness of the stories, you can then strategically plan what type of things you want to post or repost for your audience to keep existing followers of your brand engaged and interested in what you are doing on a day-to-day.
